In a world full of liquid lipsticks and lip glosses, some people still prefer lip crayons. There is just something about the precision one can get with a lip pencil. I especially prefer lip pencils for darker shades and for the longest time E.L.F matte lip colors have been my favorite. According to me, E.L.F cosmetics is one of the most underrated brands out there. From its packaging to product quality everything about E.L.F is top-notch.
While E.L.F matte lip colors have been around for a long time, I have never seen many reviews about them. Since it’s a product that more people should try so I decided to do a review on it.
Product Description
E.L.F matte lip color is a jumbo-sized lip pencil that you can apply anywhere, anytime easily. You only need to slightly twist it to get the lip liner, it doesn’t need any sharpening hence the convenience. The colors are extremely pigmented which means only one stroke and you’ll get the desired color. No need to keep reapplying. These matte lip colors don’t come across harsh as some other matte lipsticks because their formula is made from Vitamin E, Vitamin C, and Vitamin A.
Performance
APPLICATION: The best thing about the E.L.F matte lip color pencil is that it truly has the perfect formula. It is neither very drying nor extremely sticky. The pencil also glides smoothly over your lips. The vividness in shades can be seen only with one swipe of the pencil. Once you’ll be done with your lipstick you’ll see how hydrating it is for the next at least six hours. Personally, I prefer to use the darker shades a lot more than lighter ones, their performance is much better.
E.L.F Matte Lip Color Review
Packaging: E.L.F Lip Pencils are packaged in a high-quality black box that looks really stylish. The color of the lip pencil is also present on the box and its inner side. This may look like a small thing but it saves you the hassle when you’re trying to compare the color. Inside the box, there is a sleek twistable pencil and on one end of the pencil, there is the color band.
Pigmentation: Some lip pencils of this range have received complaints about pigmentation while others have been praised for their rich color. Purplish shades like Tea Rose have not been well-liked by some but shades like Praline, Berry Sorbet & Cranberry are fans’ favorite. Also, it is highly advised to have your lips exfoliated and moisturized before applying a matte lip color otherwise no matter what brand you use it won’t work well on dry/chapped lips.
Result: If you are not a fan of liquid lipsticks and still like matte colors then E.L.F Matte Lip Colors are made for you. They will especially work wonders for you if you like to overdraw on your lip line because of their precision tip. If you like to opt for glowy, natural-looking makeup then try these pencils, they’ll look and feel natural on the lips
Now let’s enlist some pros and cons of the E.L.F matte lip pencils:

Final Thoughts
This is one of those products that will not work for everyone. The shades aren’t flattering on every skin tone which is a big drawback, especially when so many brands have overcome this problem. You have to check which undertones suit your skin before buying the product. If blu-ish undertones aren’t for you then there is a chance some shades in this range aren’t for you especially Tea Rose. On the positive side, if you find a shade that works for then this will be your go-to pencil for all the pros mentioned above. I can totally see myself buying Praline & Berry Sorbet again since they are perfect for natural-looking daytime makeup.
